A Day Late

But not a dollar short, because I don't believe in that Black Friday crap.

Happy (belated) Thanksgiving!!!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful turkey day! In honor of the turkey
family that lives in my quartier, I had my first vegetarian
Thanksgiving, and because my goofy puppy got herself banned from the
workstation, we celebrated at home, together (and I don't mind a
single bit). Because my funds and options are both a little slim, and
this week was (of course) the week that my supermarché ran out of
potatoes, I made black beans and rice, Cuban style. DELICIOUS. I
shared with my neighbor and they said they will always eat them from
now on if I make them again.

So, where do I start? I wrote out a what-I'm-thankful-for post, but it
turned into Oscar acceptance speech craziness. So, now I am starting
over and editing a little.

Mom and Dad – I am thankful for all the support, love, and
opportunities you're given me my entire life. I couldn't ask for
better parents.

Mary – I'm thankful that I have such a funny, caring, intelligent
sister and that I can always talk to you. Thank you for taking such
wonderful care of my baby for two years.

Henrik – I am thankful for everything you are. I'm thankful for the 4+
years we've had together and since we'll both live forever, the
bazillion more we'll have when I get back from Peace Corps.

Ellie – Thanks for being my best friend in Bénin and always being your
goofy, loving, crazy self. I'm so thankful you recovered from your
awful sickness last week.

Thank you to all the extended family and friends who have supported
me, given me advice, and have had my back whenever I needed it (and
sent me care packages!).

I'm thankful for the opportunity to live in this wonderful,
challenging, beautiful country for two years in the best post (for me)
with great closemates. I'm insanely thankful for my health. I'm
thankful for my soon-to-be-ex neighbors who've been incredible to me.
I'm thankful Obama won the election and that I have a fan.

…Okay, this is still a bit long…. basically I'm thankful for everyone
and everything in my wonderful life! I miss you and hope you all had a
day full of love and delicious food!

P.S. I am also thankful for the person who created this site, because
it is hysterical and spot on: http://whatshouldpcvscallme.tumblr.com/
The only unfortunate thing is that it is not PCV internet friendly.
