So what have I been up to? I promised an 'update post' a few weeks ago.
Since March, I went to GAD fête (Parakou), my second IST (in Porto),
as well as trainings on beekeeping (in Koko) and shea transformation
(in Parakou). I survived Chaleur without a fan (my self-imposed
punishment for spending to much the Gender and Development fundraising
weekend). At work, we finished inventorying the tree species present
on the Jardin Ecologique land, planted a tree nursery of species that
are missing, counted the surviving trees from last year's
reforestation campaign in nearby villages, and helped plan this year's
campaign. We're planning our beehives and how to finish (and fix) the
rest of the fence around the property. I've been working with a group
of women who make shea butter, who are hoping to sell it overseas. I'm
planning another bike tour for September. This summer will be busy
with shea transformation and tree planting and my Senegal/Morocco
vacation (so stoked!). Ellie has grown as much as she's going to, and
turned into a smart, silly, incredibly loyal, loving dog. Thankfully,
still no puppies. I was gifted a feral-ish kitten and she's gotten
used to living with me and Ellie Bug…they're actually become snuggle
buddies. Her name's Fibirété, the Waama word for lion, because she was
super feisty when she first came home.
So yeah. What have YOU been up to?
