So, what'd I do this weekend? Hung out with my close-mate on
Saturday…we bought même tish (matching fabric) for our next fête
(party)!
And then today I…
…slept in.
…danced repeatedly to "Azonto."
…tried to research things (sans internet…i.e. not very successfully).
…talked to my parents!
That was the majority of my day.
Tonight, I also went out to grab dinner, and ended up meeting a cool
Togolese woman who wanted to commiserate about what it's like to be a
stranger in Bénin, a gendarme (national police) officer who invited me
to his daughter's first communion party (plus an extra invite to bring
a friend!), and a group of dudes who knew me from my biking around
town with Ellie (who they said has grown a lot, haha). One of the
dudes, who is in a wheel-chair from what was probably polio, runs a
leather stuff-making business and wanted advice about improving his
business strategy and maybe new products he can create. When I got
home, the jumelles wanted to dance with me, take pictures (they LOVE
having their picture taken), and play fetch with Ellie. Clearly, silly
children are a universal constant.
Oh, and my almostnotpuppyanymore's boyfriendog has decided that I'm
his new best friend. Even his owners are amazed at how much he likes
me. It's great.
I love weekends.
It has been "cold" a few nights lately, so I wake up in the middle of
the night with Ellie and Tiny Cat plastered to me. It's
hysterical…they're gonna have fun their first winter in Florida. ;)
Though I'll admit that I've gotten cold a couple times, so winter may
be rough for me, too, haha.
It's almost my (our) one year anniversary in Bénin! Bananas.
